Well, here it is, Day 2 at We Love Soap! There has been a lot going on here behind the scenes… way too much to publish in one post, but here are a few highlights:
In actual soaping news, I have a five pound batch of “Good Enough for Baby Jesus” soap curing. It is fragranced with Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon, and Clove. Unfortunately, although it’s a good batch of soap (I’ve already “tested” a piece out as a hand soap), it seems a little light on scent, and, more to the point, like it’s missing something. I’ve decided that I’m going to rebatch it later this week and add Orange and Ylang Ylang (and also some gold colored mica!). That should provide a more prominent top and bottom note, which I think will fill out the scent better. I’ll keep you posted.
About a week ago, in anticipation of increasing production in order to “go public,” I placed orders to Wholesale Supplies Plus, Sweet Cakes, and Brambleberry. I received my orders from WSP and Sweet Cakes last week, but my order from Brambleberry won’t arrive until Thursday. It’s killing me! I don’t want to make any more batches of soap or any lip balms until I receive the micas in my Brambleberry order. The Orange and Ylang Ylang EOs that I need for my Baby Jesus soap are in there, too. Oh, well. The truth of the matter is that I have enough “administrative” duties for We Love Soap! right now that I probably wouldn’t have time to soap until Thursday anyway. C’est la vie.
Speaking of my orders from WSP and Sweet Cakes, though, I was very impressed by both of them! Not only were each of their deliveries lightning-quick, but the items that I received were of phenomenal quality. Of particular note were the Nag Champa (the traditional and ubiquitous Indian incense) and the Very Sexy for Men (a Victoria’s Secret clone) fragrances from WSP. I love the smell of Nag Champa, and WSP’s version is by far the truest Nag Champa fragrance oil that I have come across. The Very Sexy for Men FO was my “bonus” item for spending over $100. I have never smelled the Victoria’s Secret scent by the same name, but the fragrance oil is a sweet, spicy, masculine scent. Both my husband and my son loved it! I’m also excited to try out the silicone loaf molds that I bought. They look to be of very high quality and easy to use (no freezer paper — yay!). I only wish they carried a larger version of it. I ordered five different lip balm flavors from Sweet Cakes (All-Natural Apple, Chai Tea, Jasmine Blossom Tea, Peace of Mind, and Pearberry) and they each smell delicious and natural.
In business news, I spent most of today setting up this site, my Etsy shop (nothing in it yet, although if you click on my Andi @ Etsy link, you can see many of my favorite items from other sellers), and my Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest accounts. Tomorrow I’ll be working on making more blog friends, search engine optimization (SEO), Google Analytics, and getting my business registered. And I’ll be here to tell you all about it!
